Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities within MIP Fund Accounting.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across funds, programs, and funding sources.
• Manage accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Track grant and program-related revenue and expenses.
• Ensure expenses are allocated across funds, grants, departments, and programs.
• Prepare nonprofit financial statements and internal financial reports.
• Assist with budget-to-actual and grant reporting.
• Support audit preparation and provide schedules and supporting documentation.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies within MIP and the general ledger.
• Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP and nonprofit/fund accounting requirements.

The Nonprofit Accountant Consultant will provide hands-on accounting support with a strong focus on fund accounting, MIP, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Knowledge of nonprofit GAAP and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to work independently and quickly get up to speed in an existing accounting environment
