This position will have responsibilities at all four hospital locations: Roper Hospital, Berkeley Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Mount Pleasant Hospital.
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position -
The Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technician provides technical skills in obtaining electrocardiograph tracings, routine exercise stress testing, exercise testing with nuclear medicine, and Holter Monitor application and scanning if applicable in specific Non-Invasive Cardiology department.
Essential Job Functions
Gathers relevant personal information from patient’s record.
Prepares and instructs patients on the proper procedures to follow.
Transports portable electrocardiograph to hospital units and administers electrocardiograms to inpatients, or to out-patients in the lab area.
Performs stress/nuclear stress tests with treadmill, observing tracings for abnormalities.
Scans Holter Monitors, observing tracings for abnormalities if applicable.
Ensures tests results are placed in proper physician reading box for interpretation.
Responsible for proper record keeping, data storage and retrieval.
Responsible for cleanliness of equipment, and cleanliness and order of lab area.
Notifies appropriate personnel of need for specific lab supplies.
Communicates professionally with personnel in the lab and in other areas of the hospital.
Trains hospital staff on EKG process and equipment.
Attends staff meetings as scheduling permits. Is responsible for reading minutes to obtain information presented if unable to attend
