Job summary

New York Technology Partners in Seattle seeks an NDT Technician to perform and oversee nondestructive testing in accordance with NAS410 standards, using ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant methods to assure aerospace component integrity.

You will set up equipment, document results, and ensure calibration while collaborating with engineering and quality assurance teams to address any issues and maintain compliance.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated NAS 410 Level 2 certification is required.
  • Familiarity with NDT methods and acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and standardize NDT equipment and perform system checks.
  • Interpret and evaluate parts for acceptance or rejection; document results.
  • Maintain calibration and serviceability of NDT instruments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and QA to address non-conformances and participate in audits.
  • Develop work instructions from approved procedures with engineer sign-off.

Job description

Responsible for performing and overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures in accordance with NAS410/BSS7698 standards. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of aerospace components and systems. The technician will utilize various NDT methods, including but not limited to ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing, to detect defects and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct system performance checks, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
  • Successfully obtain the formal training hours required for any method where certification is being pursued, and any additional add-on formal training required by the company based on the demands of the business. (e.g. Computed Tomography training).
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique and/or method in which they are certified.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of NDT procedures and work instructions.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
  • Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual specifications that control the Method used at their Site.
  • Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
  • Maintain NDT equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Inspect and report any issues with or damage to reference standards used to perform the approved technique to the method level 3 and NDT manager.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address any non-conformance issues. Participate in audits and inspections as required by regulatory bodies and internal quality systems.
  • Stay current with industry standards, advancements in NDT technology, and best practices. Have basic knowledge of aircraft or vehicle maintenance.
  • Be capable of developing written work instructions from approved general procedures. Such instructions require final approval by an Engineer Level 3, or Level 3 certified in the method.
  • May be delegated to perform certain method surveillances in EPES and also work to address any findings identified in an EPES surveillance when required.
Qualifications:
  • Education /Certification: meet the NAS 410 requirements for level 2 certification
