Job summary

Chipton-Ross, Inc. is seeking multiple Nondestructive Test Inspector 2s for a contract opportunity in Goose Creek, SC. The role focuses on performing UT, MT, PT and visual inspections on mechanical, electrical and structural components for naval reactor-related projects.

Candidates should have at least 4 years of nondestructive testing experience, including visual testing and magnetic particle testing, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. PPE is required on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (accredited school).
• 4 years of related experience or 2 years plus education.
• Experience performing Visual Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing.
• PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel-Toed Shoes.

Responsibilities

• Performs required inspections and nondestructive tests (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests) on mechanical, electrical or structural components to ensure conformance with Naval reactor quality requirements.
• Reports to an Inspection Supervisor and works under general supervision.
• Exercises judgment on the acceptance or rejection of work and choice of measuring equipment.
• Has authority to halt work that could affect the reactor plant.
• Inspects and tests components and assemblies related to reactor plant operations; ranges from close tolerances to general surveillance.
• Department may train leased employees on Ultrasonic and Radiographic testing.
• Certified candidates with OJT hours may certify with instructor; non-certified require training.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or 4 years of related experience
• Minimum of 4 Years of Experience performing Visual Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing is required
• Candidates who are strong Independent Contributors and Team Players are desired.
• Required PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel-Toed Shoes

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs required inspections and nondestructive tests (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for Naval reactor plants and associated systems, in support of ship construction, overhaul, refueling and repair contracts.
• This job reports to a Supervisor, Inspection and works under general supervision.
• Work is performed within the confines of standardized Company and industry policies, practices and procedures.
• This job has decision-making responsibilities with regard to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed and the determination of measuring equipment used.
• The incumbent has the authority to halt work temporarily that would affect the reactor plant.
• Errors could be critical and adversely affect the Company's competitive position in the nuclear field. inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical or structural components and assemblies related to reactor plant operators.
• Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
• The department is willing to train leased employees on Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic testing.
• If candidates are certified and have documentation verifying OJT hours, they will not need to go through training and will only need to certify with an instructor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)

• Experience in all non-destructive testing types (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc) is preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• High school diploma or GED.
• School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS

Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am-4:00pm, with an additional 8 hour day on Friday starting at 6:00 am.
