Noncredit Older Adult Education Associate (Part-time) Instructor Pool 2024 - 2025

Job Title: Noncredit Older Adult Education Associate (Part-time) Instructor Pool 2024 - 2025

Type of Assignment: Part-Time Faculty

Assignment Category: Temporary Assignment

The college is accepting applications to build a pool of instructors for possible future part-time assignments at all locations. The department chairperson or designee will review applications only if vacancies become available. Instructors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility. Assignments may include days, evenings, or weekends.

Applications are valid through June 30, 2025, at which time they will expire.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all associate faculty employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite.

Location: Oceanside, Cardiff, and/or Carlsbad, California.

Minimum Qualifications:

The transcripts you are attaching to provide evidence that you meet the minimum qualifications below must state the degree title, major, and date awarded.

  • (1) bachelor’s degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, and either (A) or (B) below:
    • (A) thirty hours or two semester units of course work or class work in understanding the needs of the older adult; OR
    • (B) one year of professional experience working with older adults.
  • OR (2) associate’s degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught; and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; and sixty hours or four semester units of course work or classwork in understanding the needs of the older adult.
  • OR a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area.
  • OR the equivalent.

Responsibilities:

Under direction, plan, organize and teach assigned courses in an instructional field or discipline. The duties include:

  1. Plan, organize and develop instructional materials; teach courses utilizing sound pedagogical methods; modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
  2. Provide prompt feedback on student assignments; evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
  3. Be available to students to answer questions and provide assistance.
  4. Maintain accurate and complete course records.
  5. Contribute to maintaining a collegial environment and collaborate with department chairs and other faculty.
  6. Attend faculty and staff meetings; participate in activities that contribute to the educational goals of the college.

Compensation: $87.60 to $101.54 per hour, based on education.
