Job description

New hires must be flexible to work any currently available shift (night, swing, or day) as needed. The hourly base compensation is $23.19 per hour, with applicable shift differentials.

This position requires driving an SMC Vehicle; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check and possess a current, valid CA driver's license. The hourly position reports directly to a Public Safety Sergeant and is a non-sworn educational security officer position.

Responsibilities include:

• Heavy foot patrol and vehicle patrol
• Parking enforcement
• Fire and crime prevention
• Public relations and public assistance
• Responding to calls for service, managing switchboard and radio communications, and other safety/security duties as required on the assigned shift

Employees must wear the issued uniform and equipment duty belt. The role requires willingness to work any shift, including weekends and holidays; overtime may be assigned.

Essential functions include conducting security patrols over 400+ acres of the campus, among other duties.
