Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Boston seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems and BAS equipment. You will lead maintenance activities, coordinate with engineers, and ensure safety permits and QA protocols are followed.

A Massachusetts Refrigeration License is required, with 5+ years of field experience preferred. You will interact with the Chief/Lead Engineer, manage parts and timing, and help keep systems reliable and compliant

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field HVAC experience or apprenticeship completed.
  • Massachusetts Refrigeration License required.
  • Experience with building automation and BAS systems a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective HVAC maintenance.

Additionally, the HVAC technician oversees related site responsibilities with regular communication with Chief/Lead Engineer to ensure scheduled maintenance and safety protocols are performed.Job DescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned. Management also reserves the right to change or modify this position description from time to time to meet the needs of the site and/or building(s)Regular attendance at the client’s facilityPerform HVAC preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance procedures, daily checks, inspectionsAct as a team leader in the execution of HVAC maintenance. Work safely and with the objective of maintaining a best in class productEnsure all site safety work permits as defined within the Safety Program and the work orders are acknowledged and adhered toCoordinate between HVAC lead and other C&W Services maintenance team in the execution of HVAC related workExecute HVAC activities in accordance with the program’s work order schedule, or as directed by the scheduler/planner, and HVAC LeadAttend all internal coordination meetings with Chief Engineer and the HVAC LeadCoordinate equipment and specialty material deliveries and staging requirementsAssist with coordination and scheduled shut-downs as required to support any associated on-site operational requirementsFollows work completion and punch lists in accordance with established Quality Control and Quality Assurance ProgramsEnsure field installation compliance with all technical specifications and work ordersDirect helpers or apprentices in appropriate tasksPerform extensive troubleshooting of all site-wide HVAC and associated Process Equipment, Plant Utility and FacilityApplicable inventory to include Refrigeration Systems, Air Handlers, Supply Air Systems, Exhaust Systems, Cooling and Heating CoilsSite specialist for Building Automation System (BAS)Analyze problems and identify corrective measuresFrequently checking blueprints and building docsObtain supplies and spare parts, understanding repair manuals and parts catalogs;Review specifications, conduct site inspections, review system design and drawings;Conduct start-up and participate in the commissioning of HVAC & BAS systemsMust maintain strict adherence to safety rules and qualityParticipate in site housekeeping; Completes work in accordance with C&W Services Business Systems Standard Operating Procedures and work instructionsCreate and maintain all operational SOPs for site specific equipment and systemsREQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):Must hold a Massachusetts Refrigeration LicenseWork and influence apprentice technicians to promote and move forward towards licensingMinimum experience: (5) years of field experience, trade school or apprenticeshipAbility to work independently or as part of a team, with both client’s personnel and C&W Services staffAbility to communicate with multiple disciplines - both technical and non-technicalKnowledge of cooling tower water chemistry and control systemsAdvanced knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systemsKnowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) – Metasys, etcKnowledge of GxP industry requirementsProficient in central plant record keeping, data analysis and computerized maintenance management systemsFamiliar with the Microsoft office suite in order to prepare reports, format spread sheets and communicates by emailCompetency in Permit Requiring Confined SpaceBe highly focused on customer satisfaction expectationsGood documentation and record keepingUnderstanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA);OSHA 10 certificationOther Qualifications & Physical Requirements:Must pass a criminal background checkMust be capable to ascend/descent ladders and stairs for completing daily tasksMust be capable of lifting 25 lbs. unassistedCushman & Wakefield also provides eligible employees with an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health, vision, and dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life, and disability insurance programs, and paid and unpaid time away from work.
