Job description

• Gather relevant personal information from patient records
• Prepare and instruct patients on proper procedures
• Transport portable electrocardiographs to hospital units and administer electrocardiograms to inpatients and outpatients
• Perform stress and nuclear stress tests using a treadmill, observing tracings for abnormalities
• Scan Holter monitors and observe tracings for abnormalities, if applicable
• Place test results in the proper physician reading box for interpretation
• Maintain proper records, data storage, and retrieval
• Keep equipment and the laboratory area clean and orderly
• Notify appropriate personnel when laboratory supplies are needed
• Communicate professionally with laboratory and hospital personnel
• Train hospital staff on EKG processes and equipment
• Attend staff meetings as scheduling permits and review minutes when unable to attend
• Provide age-appropriate care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Follow universal precautions, use personal protective equipment, and comply with infection-control policies
