Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is a leading health system with campuses in Dover and Milford, offering cardiology services across Kent and Sussex Counties. The physician will provide direct patient care per established protocols and maintain required licenses and credentials.

The role requires completing residency, MD or DO credentials, and ongoing CME to support high-quality cardiovascular care in diverse clinical settings.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine with completed residency.
• BC/BE status per Bayhealth bylaws.
• CSR and/or DEA licensure as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and document findings promptly.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and refer as needed.
• Educate patients to promote wellness and address health risks.
• Provide coverage for ambulatory and hospital settings during business hours and on-call.
• Maintain credentials and perform duties within credentialing scope.
• Prescribe medications considering patient age, conditions and interactions.
• Maintain Delaware medical license and CSR/DEA licensure as required.
• Perform other duties within scope and range of responsibilities.

General Summary:

The physician provides direct care to patients in accordance with established protocols, practices and standardized care guidelines.

In addition to job description requirements, incumbents must also meet minimum criteria for medical staff privileges.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform appropriate physical exams and document appropriately and in a timely manner.
2. Utilization and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests (i.e. laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging and procedures appropriate to their specialty) and provide appropriate referral or consultation.
3. Perform patient education and counseling to promote wellness. Consistently address and provide resources for health risk behaviors.
4. Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (ex. ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evening/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.
5. Physician will maintain and provide the clinical, technical and surgical skills to which they have been credentialled to perform.
6. Physician will use the appropriate pharmacological dispensing consistent with patients age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interaction and duration of therapy assuring quality of care in the dispensing of both narcotic and non-narcotic medication.
7. Physician will maintain an updated Delaware medical and CSR license and DEA license, including required continuing medical education (CME) and appropriate Board certification.
8. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

Education: Doctor of Medicine; Completed Residency. BC/BE per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws.
Credential(s): Physician - CSR (if required by defined job duties)
Physician MD
DEA (if required by defined job duties) Or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensure. Must meet credentialing requirements as established by Bayhealth Medical Staff Services department.
