ID Logistics US is seeking a NON DOT Yard Jockey in Detroit. The role involves moving and parking trailers, inspecting equipment, and maintaining yard organization on the 1st shift (Tuesday-Friday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM).

Candidates should operate yard trucks safely, and forklift experience is preferred; CDL Class A may be required. Responsibilities include hitching trailers, checking lights and tires, recording yard activity, and adhering to safety and GMP/site procedures.

Responsabilités

• Move trailers by attaching drive unit to trailers to position for loading/unloading.
• Inspect trailer lights, tires, and overall truck condition before and after trips; submit reports.
• Monitor trailer refrigeration units and temperatures when applicable.
• Maintain orderly yard and documentation; perform daily yard checks.
• Ensure trailers are clean and ready for use; read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Prepare routine reports and correspondences.
• Follow all safety guidelines and GMP/site procedures.

Job Description:

NON DOT Yard Jockey

$23.50/hour

1st shift: Tuesday-Friday 5AM-3:30PM

Description of the Position:

Drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractors to transport and spot trailers at appropriate loading docks and/or staging areas.

Responsibilities:

• Performs trailer movements by attaching drive unit to trailers to move to and from dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Checks trailer lights and tires and inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition.
• Monitors truck refrigeration units and may check temperature.
• Maintains an orderly lot and paperwork for trailer locations by performing daily yard checks.
• Checks empty trailers to ensure cleanliness.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and rules.
• Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed.
• Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.

• High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 1-year verifiable experience.
• Must be able to operate a yard truck safely. Forklift experience necessary. Class A CDL license may be required.
