Job description

Report to: Branch Manager

Pay based on Local 9 (Denver) rates $39.94 - $47.05, depending on experience

RMS is looking to add experienced full‑time oilers to our growing Branch. Oilers assist the crane operator on job tasks during the operation of the crane and provide rigging operations and hand signals to ensure safe lifting of the load. Loads and secure equipment (spreader bars, mats, counterweights, etc.) then drive truck to location. Follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicle. Obeys all safety and environmental policies while performing work on the job site. Be willing to travel to various locations away from home, as this is a full‑time traveling position.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the crane operator in the proper set‑up of the equipment.
  • Assist the crane operator in the maintenance of the crane and accessory equipment (i.e., pickup trucks, haul trucks, trailers, etc.).
  • Understand and perform proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of the load.
  • Utilize proper hand signals during all operations of the crane.
  • Properly secure equipment to the trailer before operating the truck.
  • Inspect truck and trailer and fill out a truck inspection report before operating the vehicle. Turn in the inspection report to the proper supervisor.
  • Report mechanical defects in writing on the truck and/or trailers to the shop technician or a supervisor.
  • Monitor inventory of the chains, boomers, and straps assigned to the truck and report missing equipment to the supervisor. Inspect, clean, and perform maintenance on chains, boomers, and straps.
  • Document and turn in all maintenance and repairs performed on the equipment to the proper supervisor.
  • Clean the outside and cab area of the assigned vehicle daily.
  • Monitor the annual State inspection and State license plates and report to the supervisor one month in advance before the expiration date.
  • Report to Dispatcher immediately on completion of assigned job task for next assignment.
  • At the end of the shift, review the next day(s) job assignment and have all necessary rigging and equipment ready before ending the shift.
  • Complete payroll timesheet with the hours worked. Hours must be reported to the branch office by 10:00 PM Sunday Night.
  • Carry and answer the phone in a prompt manner.
  • Periodically review assigned crane and other model cranes service and operation manuals.
  • Clean, inspect, and reorganize equipment in shop and yard. Clean shop, wash rack and break room.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
