Job summary

Job description

Reports to: Branch Manager

Position: Crane Operator (Non-DOT)

Location: Tower Cranes (Denver, CO)

RMS is looking to add experienced full-time crane operators to our growing Branch. You must meet all of the requirements below to be considered for this position.

Pay: $44.78 - $58.35 depending on experience, certifications held, qualifications, and size of equipment operated.

Summary: Ensures safety first, along with safe lifting of the load, proper set-up of crane while maintaining customer focus. Follows all state and federal laws while operating motor vehicles. Follows all safety and environmental policies while performing the job tasks.

Responsibilities
  • At the end of the shift, review what the next day's job assignments are and ensure all necessary rigging and equipment are ready before ending the shift.
  • Complete the Field Ticket and turn it in to the local branch office. If other chargeable equipment was utilized on the job, write it down on the Field Ticket.
  • Complete the payroll book daily with the hours worked. Hours must be reported to the local branch office no later than 10:00 a.m. every Monday.
  • If not on a job assignment, inform the supervisor and be productive by inspecting, cleaning, and performing maintenance on the equipment.
  • Carry and answer phone/pagers in a prompt manner.
  • Assist in the training of safe operation of a crane.
  • Periodically review assigned crane and other model cranes' service and operation manuals.
  • Clean, inspect, and reorganize equipment in shop and yard. Clean shop, wash rack and break room.
  • Read, interpret, and calculate the load percentage by utilizing the load charts of the crane owner and operation manual.
  • Program the crane's computer in proper set-up mode, and set up the crane on location in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensure the signal person understands and performs proper hand signals before lifting the load.
  • Apply proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of the load.
  • Inspect crane, truck, and/or trailer and fill out vehicle inspection report before operating the vehicle. Turn in inspection report to the local branch office.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
