Job summary

VSE in Bridgeport, WV is seeking an experienced NDT Technician to perform and interpret non-destructive tests on aerospace components using multiple NDT methods. A Level 2 NDT certification is required, with duties including report writing, calibration of equipment, and adherence to FAA and EASA standards.

The role requires the ability to read complex drawings and blueprints, maintain documentation, and train Level 1 inspectors. Full-time first shift; background check and drug testing will apply.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or 3 years of related experience.
  • Current Level 2 NDT certification NAS 410 or eligible.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and blueprints.
  • Familiar with ASTM, ASME, NAS, FAA and EASA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer software (MS Office).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret non-destructive tests on aerospace components using a variety of NDT techniques.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and document findings per requirements.
  • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment and conduct tests per procedures.
  • Review orders and blueprints to determine inspection criteria.
  • Provide guidance and training to Level 1 NDT Inspectors.
  • Maintain NDT equipment and perform system checks.
  • Ensure FAA, EASA, and company safety and quality compliance.

Description

SUMMARY: The NDT Technician will be responsible for conducting and interpreting non-destructive tests on various aircraft components and structures using advanced NDT methods. This individual must hold a Level 2 NDT certification. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of parts, while maintaining compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform and interpret non-destructive tests on aerospace components using a variety of NDT techniques. This includes the preparation of parts before or after testing in accordance with approved work instructions.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and ensure proper documentation of all findings, ensuring compliance with customer, company, and regulatory requirements.
  • Set up and calibrate NDT equipment, and conduct tests in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
  • Interpret and evaluate test results according to applicable standards, codes, and specifications, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Review and analyze work orders, technical manuals, and blueprints to determine appropriate NDT methods and inspection criteria.
  • Provide guidance and training to Level 1 NDT Inspectors.
  • Maintain NDT equipment and conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, and company safety, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday, 6:30am to 5:00pm.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree or 3 years of related experience in lieu of
  • Possess current Level 2 NDT certification(s) in accordance with NAS 410, or an equivalent standard, or be eligible.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, and NAS, as well as FAA and EASA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on inspection data.
  • Communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer software (Microsoft Office, data entry systems).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-4 years of relevant NDT experience in the aerospace or aviation industry.
  • FAA Repairman or Inspector Authorization (IA) certification.
  • Additional certification in other NDT methods.

OTHER :

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
