Non-Credit Instructor - Medical Assistant

The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department of Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Course Details
  • Medical Assistant

Note: A non-credit instructor position is not adjunct. Successful candidates will teach courses in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department (WDLL).

Primary Responsibilities

Teach a program up to 460 hours, approximately 25 hours per week over 19 weeks, covering:

  • Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology
  • Infection Control, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Office administrative procedures including medical records, filing, electronic PMS such as Medisoft, office machines, and telephony
  • Clinical procedures common to outpatient medical offices
  • Supervise students, conduct classroom and practical instruction, ensure a safe learning environment, maintain classroom facilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous teaching experience in the subject matter
  • Experience teaching adult learners
  • At least three years’ experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Ability to teach in Edison, New Brunswick, or Perth Amboy
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant or healthcare provider license/certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Certification in phlebotomy and/or EKG
