Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical staff with basic nursing tasks under the direction of a physician or registered nurse. You will greet patients, obtain initial information and vital signs, prepare exam rooms, and assist with exams, tests, and procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Medical Assistant program or one year of clinical experience, and certification in Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms and records initial vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms and ensures supplies.Assists with exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and manages referrals.
• Supports providers during examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow-up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs and equipment checks.
• Assists with medical documentation completion.
• Handles light administrative tasks and cash deposits as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• Completion of healthcare education course work.

Experience

• One (1) year of healthcare experience.

• Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; prepares for physician visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.
• Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
• Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
• Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
• Assists with office administrative tasks to include but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, performing office related task (copying, printing, data entry, etc.) and assisting with depositing of cash and other closing duties.
