Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics in Northlake, USA, is hiring a NON CDL Yard Driver (PM) to move trailers and equipment within the yard, perform inspections, and support loading/unloading operations. The role emphasizes safety, efficient yard management, and coordination with dispatch and warehouse teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous yard driver/hostler/shuttler/warehouse or transportation experience.
• Experience operating yard tractor/terminal tractor preferred.
• Ability to obtain/maintain yard certification and safety training.
• Basic understanding of trailer types, coupling/uncoupling and dock operations preferred.
• Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers, containers, and equipment to/from loading docks and staging areas.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects.
• Ensure trailers are secured, chocked, sealed, and docked per safety procedures.
• Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and operations to prioritize moves.
• Maintain yard location tracking using YMS or logs.
• Verify trailer numbers, seals, and load docs before movement.
• Assist yard organization with staging of trailers.
• Monitor yard for safety hazards and equipment issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of yard tractors/equipment.
• Comply with safety policies and site procedures.
• Support shipping/receiving during peak periods.
