We are looking for a dynamic Hospitalist to join our program at UnityPoint St Luke's in Sioux City, IA.
Requirements
We will accept both Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents/physicians. Prime Physicians, in conjunction with UPH, focus on improving efficiency, optimizing the practice environment, provider engagement, and service excellence. We seek hardworking physicians with a collegial personality and excellent team player skills.
Hospital
- 180-bed tertiary care, Level III Trauma center, and acute care hospital.
- All medical sub-specialties available (Cardiology, EP, Interventional cardiology, GI, Hem Oncology, Nephrology, Pulmonary Critical Care, Pediatric hospitalists, Dermatology, Rheumatology, etc.).
- All surgical sub-specialties available (Neurosurgery, Bariatric surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Podiatry, Orthopedics, Hand surgery, Plastics, Ob-Gyn, etc.), but no CT surgery.
- Open ICU (18 beds); hospitalists admit most patients to ICU with intensivist support. 24/7 intensivist coverage.
- No code pager (ED runs codes).
- No procedures, lines, intubations, or vent management required (optional). Anesthesia, surgery, intensivists, and PICC nurses perform procedures.
- EMR: Epic. All providers use the same templates and order sets to reduce practice variation.
Schedule and Staffing
- 7 PM - 7 AM nights staffed by 2 in-house NPs.
- Standard week-on/week-off day shifts with very flexible scheduling. Total of 26 weeks per year constitutes full-time work. Providers may do long 3-4 week stretches for extended vacations.
- Average census: 16-18 patients per day. Winters are busier; summers are lighter.
- Night admissions: 4-6.
- Cross coverage and ICU coverage included.
Pay and Benefits
- Base salary: $325,000.
- $50,000 signing bonus for a 5-year commitment; repayment required if leaving early.
- Moonlighting opportunities available at other hospitals.
- No additional CME required, but a pretax account option is available for CME expenses.
- Benefits include paid malpractice with tail coverage, medical, dental, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability, and a 401(k) profit-sharing plan.
- All pay, bonuses, and contracts are non-negotiable to maintain uniformity among physicians.
- Visa sponsorship available (J1/H1B) as needed, with HHS/HRSA waiver for J1s.
