Job summary

UCI Health - Los Alamitos Hospital seeks a Nocturnist Physician to provide hospital medicine services overnight. The role includes supervising APP staff, handling after-hours admissions from the ED, cross-coverage of admitted patients, and stabilizing patients with timely handoffs to day teams.

The candidate must hold an MD/DO/MBBS or equivalent, possess an unrestricted California license, and board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, with relevant clinical experience within

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS or equivalent degree
• Unrestricted CA Medical License or eligibility
• ABIM Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes
• Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives while in compliance with UC policies; maintain patient confidentiality
• Current DEA
• Current ACLS
• Experience in providing and/or oversight of care

Responsibilities

• Overnight nocturnist coverage in UCI Health - Los Alamitos Hospital inpatient medicine wards
• Supervise APP staff and manage after-hours admissions from the ED
• Cross-coverage of admitted patients and manage acute changes in condition
• Provide patient stabilization and timely handoffs of overnight events to day team
• Ensure compliance with policies and uphold patient confidentiality and safety
