Reports To: Resident Care Coordinator / Administrator

The Med Tech is responsible for administering prescribed medications and assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) in a manner that meets or exceeds expectations. Under the supervision of the Resident Care Coordinator (RCC) and Registered Nurse (RN), the Med Tech verifies the identity of the resident before administering medication, records the name of the drug, dosage, and time of administration, and ensures the proper ingestion or application of the medication according to specified procedures. The Med Tech also provides assistance to residents with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, oral care, laundry, and other personal care needs, while respecting each resident's dignity and privacy. The goal is to help maintain the resident's independence while providing the necessary support to ensure their well-being.

In addition to medication administration, the Med Tech is responsible for documenting the services provided to residents, noting any significant changes in condition, and reporting concerns regarding residents' health and well-being to the RCC, Nurse, or Administrator. The Med Tech must adhere to facility policies and meet community standards for hygiene, appearance, and health. They must also maintain the confidentiality of resident information at all times, function independently, and assist with any reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

To qualify, the Med Tech must be trained and certified by an RN to pass medications and possess a current Food Handler's Permit. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required. Additionally, Med Techs must have or obtain a current C.N.A. license within four months of hire and provide written proof of a recent TB test, or obtain one within two weeks of hire. The ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff is essential, and a willingness to work with the elderly is expected. The Med Tech is also expected to represent SAL Management's "Super Caregivers" by consistently providing excellent care and maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
