Job summary

Segra is seeking a qualified NOC Engineer I for full-time work in either Kansas City, MO or Columbia, SC, with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days in the KC office and 2 remote days weekly.

This entry-level role focuses on developing technical skills in monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident documentation across Segra's fiber, voice and data services, under close guidance of senior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 1–2 years telecom experience required.
  • At least 2 years of professional level technical or engineering experience; or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide foundational support for monitoring and managing network services in a 24x7 NOC.
  • Assist with routine network surveillance and basic system troubleshooting.
  • Document incidents and resolutions; escalate to higher level engineers as needed.
  • Learn technologies and maintain operational documentation.

Job description

Segra is searching for a qualified and experienced NOC Engineer I to join us in a full-time capacity in either the Kansas City, MO or Columbia, SC office.

Location Requirement:

The work arrangement for this role is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of three (3) days in the Kansas City, MO office, with flexibility to work remotely two (2) days each week.

Role Overview:

As a NOC Engineer I, you will play a pivotal role in providing foundational support for monitoring and managing Segra's core, distribution, carrier last mile, and customer premise voice and data services. This position is an entry level engineer role and is focused on developing your technical skills and providing a comprehensive understanding of network operations from an engineering perspective. Your responsibilities include assisting with routine network surveillance, basic system troubleshooting, and documenting incidents and their resolutions. You will work closely with higher level engineers to escape issues beyond your scope, learning to prioritize tasks in a dynamic 24x7 network operations center environment. Additionally, you will engage in training sessions to enhance your knowledge of deployed technologies and contribute to maintaining operational documentation. This role provides a pivotal starting point for a strong foundation for growing your expertise in network operations and prepares you for more complex tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree or 1 to 2 years of telecommunications experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience: At least 2 years professional level technical or engineering experience with at least 1 year of experience in a similar industry; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required
  • Key Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills for engaging with customers, management, and team members. Able to prioritize in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Salary Range:

$64,050 - $80,115
