Description

NMSI's mission is to advance education to ensure that all students, especially those furthest from opportunity, thrive and reach their highest potential as problem solvers and lifelong learners who pursue their passions and tackle the world's toughest challenges. NMSI is seeking highly successful K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and school leaders inspired by this mission to become our nationally recognized coach corps members. (This is a Temporary Part-time role).

NMSI Coaches are passionate educators who strive to learn from others, enjoy supporting teachers, and work to build more equitable opportunities for students in their school communities. They support core programs such as the College Readiness Program (Grades 9-12 AP Teachers and AP Students), Laying the Foundation (K-12 Teachers), and Leadership Development (K-12 school and district leaders) by delivering professional development or providing content support for students.

NMSI Coaches work with teachers and students in both online and face-to-face settings to improve teacher impact and student achievement in Math, Science, and English classrooms. They support programs like the College Readiness Program and Laying the Foundation through roles such as learner, data coach, resource provider, mentor, curriculum specialist, instructional specialist, classroom supporter, learning facilitator, content developer, and catalyst for change.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver professional development for teachers in online and in-person environments
  • Develop, edit, and pilot curricular materials for teachers and students
  • Promote learning environments anchored in culturally responsive education philosophies
  • Produce and deliver customized training events for client districts
  • Develop educational content, including activities, lessons, and units
  • Model teaching strategies and content activities for stakeholders
  • Share feedback to inform future programming
  • Serve as an ambassador for NMSI and its mission
  • Support coach recruitment and promote NMSI in professional networks
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • At least four years of teaching experience in a K-12 content/grade band
  • Familiarity with college-readiness standards such as AP frameworks, Common Core, and NGSS
  • Understanding of effective teaching and school leadership
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms like Blackboard, Canvas, or Google Classroom
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility and availability for school-day events
  • Growth mindset and commitment to ongoing learning
  • Ability to deliver up to 100+ hours of events annually
  • Preferred experience in STEM, high-need schools, or AP Reader experience
