Job summary

New Mexico Department of Agriculture is seeking an Inspector Intermediate for the Petroleum Standards Bureau in Las Cruces. The role focuses on regulatory compliance and inspections of fuel quality, LPG meters, and related equipment from Dona Ana County and surrounding areas.

The position requires an Associate's or Bachelor's degree with relevant experience, and travel up to 50% across Southwest New Mexico.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Duties will include working with the petroleum industry to establish regulatory compliance. Specific duties will include inspection activities of fuel quality sampling, small volume, large volume, and LPG meter inspections based out of Dona Ana County (Southwest New Mexico) NMDA Inspector, Inter. would gain knowledge of all petroleum inspections and regulations, develop relationships with industry, training and field reference materials. The position will also work with other inspectors throughout the state to gain knowledge on all inspection procedures. The NMDA Inspector, Inter. should address equipment needs, as they arise, to ensure a safe work environment for all area staff. The NMDA Inspector, Inter. will assist with maintaining New Mexico’s presence by participation in weights and measures events. The NMDA Inspector, Inter. will complete device inspections by maintaining an inspection area and other duties as assigned. NMDA Inspector, Inter. needs to be well-versed in University and department policies and procedures. The NMDA Inspector, Inter. should be skilled in short-term planning, report preparation, and managing their inspection area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.; Equivalency:Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.; Required Certification/License:

Equivalent Qualifications This position may be underfilled as a NMDA Inspector, Associate on a career development plan if unable to fill at the NMDA Inspector, Intermediate. Minimum requirements for the associate level: Associate's degree plus 2 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in related field. Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services may be used to meet the minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Special Certification/Licensure: A cover letter is required.

Minimum education/equivalency must be met per the posting.

50% travel

Must have and maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
