Job summary

Probst Electric Inc., a Quanta Services subsidiary, seeks driven Linemen to install and maintain high-voltage transmission systems nationwide. This role requires full-time travel across the United States, a valid CDL and medical card, and proven line-school credentials.

You will work from Caldwell, Idaho with opportunities for ongoing training and advancement. As part of a safety‑driven team, you’ll perform above‑ground and underground work, read blueprints, and handle equipment like bucket

Qualifications

• CDL and Medical Card required with no exceptions.
• Position requires full-time travel throughout the US.
• Graduate from an accredited line school or equivalent experience.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work outdoors long hours in all weather and lift 50 lbs consistently.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems.
• String conductors and cables; climb poles or use bucket trucks.
• Read plans and identify components and safety hazards.
• Operate machinery such as diggers, cranes, and line tensioners.
• Adhere to safety practices and perform right-of-way clearing.

What You'll Do

General Lineman Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems
• String wire conductors and cables
• Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical
• Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment
• Place insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints
• Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring, using wiring diagrams and electrical-testing instruments
• Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions
• Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work
• Adhere to safety practices and procedures
• Excavate and drill holes
• Erect and maintain structures
• Right of Way clearing and reclamation
• Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment
• Operate machinery such as track hoes, backhoes, digger derricks, lo-drill, air drill, forklift, cranes, skid steers, line pullers, or line tensioners

What You'll Bring

Requirements:

• Valid CDL and Medical Card (No exceptions)

• Ability to travel throughout the US (position requires FULL-TIME TRAVEL)

• Graduated from an accredited line school or have equivalent verifiable experience

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Ability to work long hours outdoors in all types of weather, and move/lift at least 50 lbs. on a consistent basis

• Pass pre-employment and other drug screening requirements

Preference given to candidates with:

• Heavy equipment operator experience
• Crane certification
