Job summary

Center For Family Services is recruiting for the New Jersey Child Assault Prevention (NJCAP) trainer role in Somerset, and related counties. The position focuses on delivering curriculum-based workshops to students, engaging staff and parents, and guiding discussions on safeguarding and reporting concerns.

Facilitators will collaborate with school partners, maintain accurate records, and participate in mandatory trainings to uphold NJCAP’s mission and professional standards in a community

Qualifications

• Experience facilitating school workshops using NJCAP curriculum.
• Ability to engage children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student workshops in schools according to the NJCAP curriculum.
• Host school staff and parent/caregiver programs to explain NJCAP strategies.
• Engage students through role-plays, discussions, and activities.
• Create safe space for questions about abuse, neglect, or bullying.
• Report concerns of maltreatment to SCR at DCP&P with school staff.
• Collaborate with other facilitators to plan cohesive programs.
• Attend mandatory initial and ongoing training and meetings.
• Maintain records of school visits, attendance, disclosures, and evaluations.
• Communicate with school staff, NJCAP/NJ4S hub coordinators, and team.
• Maintain up-to-date directory of local resources for students and families.

Salary Range: $35 per hour

Position Summary

The New Jersey Child Assault Prevention (NJCAP) training program aims to reduce children's vulnerability to abuse, neglect, and bullying. NJCAP utilizes a prevention-focused, empowerment-based approach in schools, helping children recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations through interactive, age-appropriate workshops. Parents, caregivers, and school personnel are also participants in the training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate student workshops in schools according to the NJCAP curriculum.
• Host school staff and parent/caregiver programs to introduce and explain NJCAP's strategies and child protection concepts.
• Engage students through role-plays, discussions, and activities tailored to developmental levels.
• Create safe space for students to raise questions about the information presented, discuss situational problems, or disclose reportable matters involving abuse, neglect, and/or bullying.
• Partner with school staff to report concerns of maltreatment to the State Central Registry (SCR) at the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P).
• Collaborate with other facilitators to plan and present cohesive programs.
• Attend mandatory initial and ongoing training including staff development activities and meetings as required.
• Maintain accurate records of school visits, student attendance, disclosure forms, and workshop evaluations.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, NJCAP/NJ4S hub coordinators, and team members.
• Maintain an up-to-date information and referral directory of available local, county, and state supported services and resources, including 2nd Floor Youth Helpline and the Traumatic Loss Coalition, readily available to students, parents/caregivers, and school personnel.
• Uphold NJCAP's mission, policies, and professional standards at all times.
