Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports to Plant Manager. Receives, tests, releases for use, and unloads Ammonium Nitrate solution from railcars or trailers. Monitors, records, and maintains the operation of a nitrous oxide production facility within Standards of Control. Troubleshoots and corrects production conditions outside of Standards of Control. Collects product samples from storage tanks. Uses validated analytical methods and gas chromatography to determine product conformance to standards. Compiles batch production records, performs tests, and prepares Storage Tank Conformance Reports. Releases conforming storage tanks for use following review by Quality Control. Samples returned bulk trailers for suitability and releases trailers for reloading. Reports non-conforming trailers to the plant manager. Loads bulk trailers, takes samples, performs tests, and prepares Certificates of Analysis. Releases trailers for distribution following review by Quality Control. Performs scrubber solution and dryer maintenance, documenting actions. Receives chemicals, parts, and components per procedures. Demonstrates ability to start up and shut down the plant under normal and emergency conditions. Assists in plant maintenance and development of operating procedures. Maintains compliance with FDA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other regulations. Supports safety, environmental, and medical procedures. Handles customer complaints and initiates response processes. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Safety: Believes in and adheres to safety policies, demonstrates commitment to Zero Accident objectives, actively participates in safety meetings, and supports compliance with FDA and DOT requirements.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Responsive to calls and complaints, provides products meeting specifications, understands customer service.
  • Profitability: Supports plant goals, suggests cost control methods.
  • Employee Development: Meets training requirements, assists in training, recommends opportunities.
  • Personal Development: Increases knowledge of policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
  • Technical Experience/Education: High School diploma or equivalent; capable of moderate mathematical exercises; proficient in English; attentive to details; experienced in plant operations; familiar with instruments and test equipment; basic computer skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Moderate work involving climbing, stooping, lifting up to 100 lbs, working in weather, on feet, possibly wearing respirator, shifts, and alone on weekends.
