Job summary

Air Products in Odessa, TX is seeking an experienced Operations Technician to monitor and control nitrogen production processes at the Odessa site. You will manage utility systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operations, while maintaining water chemistry and completing daily tasks.

This 8-hour shift position includes rotating on-call coverage for nights and weekends, reporting to the Site Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants.
• Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings.
• Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• A teammate that is flexible and has a positive demeanor.
• Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
• Dedication to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• This is a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, safety inspections, and plant log readings.
• Maintain online training program requirements.
• Maintain water chemistry.
• Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
• Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards, and unusual operating conditions.
• Keep work and storage areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
• Perform troubleshooting on equipment.
• Issue safety work permits and performs lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
• Ensure that all plant safety, health, environmental and quality procedures are followed.
• Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
• Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.
