Job Description – Overnight Yard Jockey – CDL
The primary function of this position is to prepare trucks and trailers for loading, which includes moving trucks and trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading, fueling, precooling/heating trailers and maintaining equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with loaders and warehouse management to move trucks and trailers from one location to another according to door assignments.
- Checks to ensure that each truck/trailer is sealed with bulkheads and the refrigeration unit is operating correctly and running.
- Ensures the truck or trailer is completely loaded and secured before moving from the dock area.
- Ensures truck equipment is charged.
- Arranges trucks and trailers on the yard in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Helps keep the truck yard free of debris and trash.
- Adhere to all safety practices and company policies and food safety principles. Immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
- Attend all required company meetings.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor/management.
- Education/Training
- Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers’ License issued by the state of legal residence and be DOT qualified.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language as it relates to the job and safety requirements - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.
- Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

- Frequently lift, push, pull or move equipment that weighs up to 100 pounds using safety lifting practices
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be able to work the assigned schedule includingvarious night start times, 10+ hour shifts,overtime, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
- No more than two convictions in the past two-year period for traffic violations. No more than one of these may be a serious (as defined by DOT) violation or result of an accident - company or private vehicle; No DUI convictions within past three years, regardless of type of vehicle operated; no driver's license suspension within past three years (insurance and overweight tickets are excluded); and no termination by previous employer for failure to comply with safety regulations or for accident involvement for the past three years.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and extreme/inclement weather conditions.Temperatures range from below zero to 95F degrees or above outdoors.Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
