Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare has openings for Medical Center Protection Officers in our Security department. This full-time role works nights and every other weekend, with starting base pay of $29.14 per hour and potential shift differentials.

Under supervision, you perform routine tasks to maintain safety and security of Medical Center facilities. The position emphasizes inspecting facilities, recording incidents, assisting patients and visitors, and contributing to safety drills and procedures.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or technical college coursework completed.
• Prefer coursework in criminal justice (police science, law enforcement, corrections).
• Must successfully complete prescribed training during probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Inspects buildings and grounds to ensure security.
• Maintains observation and records of property damage.
• Reports security information to supervision.
• Assists visitors and patients with problems.
• May restrain agitated individuals or escort.
• May administer emergency First Aid/CPR.
• Participates in safety and security procedures.
• Explains procedures and trains employees on safety equipment.
• Assists during safety drills and evacuation.
• Checks and maintains safety equipment.
• Locks/unlocks doors at scheduled times.
• Prepares reports and maintains records.

Education

Two years of college or technical college coursework

Criminal justice coursework preferred (police science, law enforcement, corrections)
