Bondurant Emergency Services is seeking applicants for a part-time firefighter/paramedic specialist for overnight and weekend coverage in Bondurant, IA. Wage range offered: $18.82–$22.59 per hour. Paramedics preferred; paramedics without firefighter credentials may be considered with certification timelines.

The two-week cycle includes 12-hour shifts with rotation to maintain continuous coverage. The City of Bondurant provides EMS, fire response, and safety services to the community.

Qualifications

• Three years EMS experience preferred with paramedic certification within 120 days of hire.
• Must have Paramedic (NREMT) with ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Firefighter I and Hazardous Materials Operations preferred.
• Iowa Chaufffer’s license (Class D) or CDL with airbrake endorsement.
• English reading/writing/speaking proficiency required.
• Must have EMT certification (Iowa DoPH) at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate ambulance after driver clearance.
• Complete patient care reports for hospital EDs.
• Inspect apparatus daily; ensure supplies and equipment are complete.
• Check equipment daily for control and inventory.
• Participate in firefighting duties and rescue operations as needed.
• Lay hose lines, operate nozzles, pumps, and hydrants; use extinguishers.
• Participate in salvage operations to reduce property damage.
• Participate in drills and training evolutions.
• Conduct fire and life safety inspections at commercial properties.
• Maintain and clean fire equipment and stations.
• Respond to emergencies and transport patients.
• Transfer and move patients with safe lifting techniques.
