Job summary

Adventist HealthCare seeks a skilled Monitor Technician for our Central Telemetry Unit. The role focuses on documenting cardiac rhythms, reporting changes to nurses, and maintaining monitoring equipment to ensure patient safety.

Candidates will demonstrate dysrhythmia recognition, complete the required Monitor Technician program within 6 months, and hold a valid BLS certification. Night shifts, with weekend rotations, are typical.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year emergency/acute clinical experience or equivalent.
• Completion of the Monitor Technician Program within 6 months of hire.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document rhythm on the EKG flow sheet and report changes to the nurse.
• Obtain strips on irregularities.
• Maintain charge requisitions on monitored patients.
• Notify nursing staff of electrode replacements and new monitored patients.
• Maintain safe operation of the Monitoring Console at all times.
• Ensure paper loaders are full and alarms are on at all times.
• Assist with multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Provide verbal reports to relief staff and patient reports to oncoming technicians.
