Responsibilities

• Selects and assigns staff to shop jobs.
• Evaluates employee performance through review of completed work and techniques.
• Ensures OSHA regulations are followed for safety of all employees.
• Oversees overhaul and rebuilding of trucks, pumps, cranes, and firefighting equipment.
• Diagnoses problems, recommends repairs, and assigns work to staff or vendors.
• Inspects, tests, and adjusts equipment.
• Supervises fabrication of specialized tools and equipment.
• Prepares cost and material estimates.
• Performs any task assigned to subordinate staff, within licensing requirements.
• Works alongside other employees.
• Communicates with Shop Supervisor, Ray Salla.

Job Purpose

• Supervise night mechanics

Schedule

• Sunday through Saturday morning 6:00 pm - 4:30 or 5:00 am
• 10 to 12 hour shifts

Job Duties

• Selects and assigns staff to shop jobs
• Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
• Ensures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations are followed for the safety of all employees
• Oversees the overhauling and rebuilding of trucks, tractors, pumps, cranes, and other standard or specialized gasoline, diesel, and manually operated firefighting machinery and equipment
• Diagnoses difficult problems, recommends repairs, and determines if service will be completed by subordinate staff or vendors
• Inspects, tests, and adjusts equipment
• Supervises and participates in the fabrication and construction of specialized tools and equipment
• Prepares cost and material estimates
• Performs any task assigned to subordinate staff, consistent with any licensing or certification requirements
• Work along side of other employees
• Communicate with Shop Supervisor, Ray Salla
