Responsibilities

• Assist department manager in reaching sales and profit goals for the department.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
• Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and store.
• Promote trust and respect among associates and encourage a welcoming environment.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers based on needs and specials.
• Check product quality, review sell-by dates, and take action as needed.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise, ensuring fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and notify when repairs are needed.
• Notify management of accidents or safety risks and incidents.
