Job summary

Novant Health in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for the night shift. You will clean, reprocess, and sterilize instruments, inspect sets, and assemble trays to meet operating room needs.

The role requires familiarity with instrument terminology, adherence to sterilization standards, and collaboration with clinical staff to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year hospital Sterile Processing Department experience preferred.
• Sterile Processing Tech Certification preferred.
• Ability to complete validation/competency testing; understand instrumentation and sterile technique; read and assemble instrument sets; learn medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assess surgical schedule to identify patient/procedure needs and monitor instrument functions.
• Plan with Coordinators to ensure instrument availability and adjust daily schedule as needed.
• Disassemble, clean, sterilize, inspect, reassemble instrument sets, and package items per standards.
• Coordinate with teams to optimize resources, participate in process improvement, and orient new staff.
• Keep intra-op staff informed of updates and collaborate with leadership to resolve issues.
