Job summary

National Oilwell Varco in Houma, LA is seeking an experienced welder to perform SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding across carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex and other alloys. You will read engineering drawings, use WPSs, and maintain proper preheat and heat input per procedures, while keeping meticulous production documentation.

Requirements include a minimum of 2 years in industrial welding, ability to pass weld qualification tests, and capability to operate shop equipment and overhead cranes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial welding experience preferred.
• Ability to pass company weld qualification tests.
• Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.
• Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes as qualified.
• Weld carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, Inconel, and other specialty alloys.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, travelers, WPSs, and manufacturing work instructions.
• Maintain required preheat, interpass temperatures, and heat input in accordance with approved procedures.
• Perform interpass cleaning and grinding between weld passes.
• Complete all required production documentation accurately.
• Maintain proper material identification and traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
• Operate overhead cranes, positioners, welding equipment, and other shop equipment safely.
