Job summary

City of Manhattan seeks a Plant Operator I to assist in wastewater treatment, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe operation of a 10.7 MGD plant. You will work on a shift basis, with some holidays and weekends, and handle sample collection, data recording, and process adjustments.

Responsibilities include equipment inspection, SCADA operation, reporting issues after hours, and supporting maintenance and security tasks at the treatment facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in water/wastewater treatment.
• Certification as Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator, Class I (KDHE).
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor process equipment; take samples and adjust as needed.
• Operates SCADA systems and records data for process control.
• Maintain records, monitor water availability via SCADA, regulate flow and pumping levels.
• Provide routine maintenance support and assist with security and safety procedures.
