Job summary

Rex Lumber, LLC. is seeking a diligent Night Shift Maintenance Helper to keep the sawmill, planer mill, and surrounding areas clean, safe, and debris-free. You will perform cleaning duties, operate basic cleaning tools, and support the maintenance supervisor on a 12+ hour shift.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift 50+ lbs, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols. Company benefits are highlighted and relocation/tuition programs are mentioned as part of a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Prefer high school diploma/GED
• Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors
• Ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms and/or legs
• Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly
• Ability to work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision
• Ability to complete maintenance, downtime tallies and daily reports as required
• Possess excellent reasoning and mathematical skills
• Possess a high level of trustworthiness and integrity
• Possess knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses

Responsibilities

• Keep all areas including the sawmill, planer mill and surrounding areas safe, clean and free of debris
• Keep work and surrounding area safe, clean and free of debris
• Operate equipment used for cleaning: i.e shovels, blowers, brooms, etc.
• Participate in action planning process
• All other duties assigned by supervisor
• Assist other clean up employees as necessary
• Must be able to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over a 12 plus hour shift
• Must be able to left, carry, push or pull 50 plus pounds during a 12 plus hour shift
• Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch during the workday
• Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for a 12 plus hour shift
• Must be able to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs for 12 plus hour shift
• Must not be afraid of heights

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

This is a Night Shift position. Keep all areas including the sawmill, planer mill and all surrounding areas safe, clean and free of debris.

• Empty trash as required
• Operate equipment used for cleaning: i.e shovels, blowers, brooms, etc.

SAFETY

• Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations
• Wear all required personal protective equipment: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc…as required
• Do not enter restricted areas
• Report immediately to supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly
• Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge
• Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating
• Whenever possible, eliminate unsafe conditions as soon as possible
• Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers
• Use proper lifting technique by pushing, pulling and lifting with your legs and not your back
• Never approach a saw while it is still running
• Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company
