Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Inpatient Rehab unit on the night shift. This role requires 2+ years of RN experience and a TX or Compact license, with ACLS/BLS certs and travel nursing background preferred.

Responsibilities include caring for stroke and orthopedic patients, collaborating with physicians and therapists, and using Epic for documentation. Strong emphasis on safety, family involvement, and rehab tech adoption.

Qualifications

• Active TX or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Current certifications: ACLS and BLS required; CPI and NIHSS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
• LTAC experience preferred.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and PICC line management.
• Experience with feeding tube care and colostomy/ileostomy management.
• Experience caring for CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury patients.
• Experience administering Heparin and Insulin.
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management.
• Experience in Med/Surg and MS/Tele settings.
• Experience with nasal cannula and tracheostomy care/management.
• Experience with ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients.
• Experience with post cardiac surgery patients.
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care.
• Experience managing surgical drains.
• Familiar with Rapid Response/Code team protocols.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting caring for patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgeries, brain injuries, and other debilitating conditions.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:6 to 1:7
• May float to Long-term acute care or other hospital units to manage med-surg patients
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide multidisciplinary rehabilitative nursing care in collaboration with physicians, therapists, and support staff to help patients regain independence and functionality
• Emphasis on family involvement and patient education throughout the recovery process
• Utilizes advanced rehabilitation technologies and evidence-based practices
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved and no RTO is allowed during the first week of orientation
