Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Labor & Delivery on the night shift at a community hospital in California. CA RN licensure and minimum 2 years L&D experience required, with charge nurse preferred.

This is a travel/locum assignment with a 13-week term. Responsibilities include triage, fetal monitoring, epidural/PCA support, and postpartum care; evenings to nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) across 3x12-hour shifts, with local candidates offered local rate within 50 miles and

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced (AHA or ARC).
• Experience with external fetal monitoring (EFM) required.
• Experience with vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation and recovery, and sterile vaginal exams.
• Experience with meds including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline.
• Antepartum, postpartum, and neonatal care in the delivery room.
• Any charting system experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit within a community hospital setting.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• 13-week assignment length.
• Triage of obstetrical patients, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum assessments.
• Pain management duties including epidural anesthesia support and PCA use.
• Adherence to isolation precautions and PPE protocols required.
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return as a traveler.
• RTO limited to 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request permitted.
• Holiday coverage required for major holidays.
• Lab work must be completed within 3-5 days of contract signing.
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration.
