North Shore Steel & Affiliates is seeking a Sub Arc Welder for the night shift to operate SAW systems and produce high‑quality long seam welds on pipe and structural components. You will work with weld parameters, read blueprints, and ensure code conformity.

Ideal candidates have strong SAW experience, knowledge of AWS/ASME standards, and the ability to maintain quality during 12‑hour nights. Join a team focused on safety, reliability, and precision welding.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating SAW equipment.
• Strong understanding of weld parameters, heat input and deposition.
• Experience in pipe welding or large structural steel fabrication.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding schematics.
• Knowledge of AWS/ASME standards for pipe manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience in multi-process welding environments (SAW, MIG, FCAW, SMAW).
• Identify weld defects and support repair processes.
• Attention to detail with consistency and quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate SAW equipment for long seam welding.
• Perform long-seam welds on pipe/cylinders.
• Set and adjust welding parameters to maintain penetration and bead profile per code.
• Execute starts, stops, and tie-ins with minimal defects.
• Monitor weld performance and adjust during rotation.
• Read Welding Procedure Specifications, blueprints, and weld symbols.
• Carve and grind defects when required.
• Prepare weld surfaces and maintain equipment in safe condition.
• Keep work area clean and compliant with safety standards.
