Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Slitter Operator for the Night Shift to set up and operate a slitter, ensuring production according to customer specifications and work orders. You will perform regular equipment inspections, measure dimensions, align parts, and produce material per instructions, with responsibilities ranging from setup to documentation and maintenance assistance.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform complete setup and operation of the slitter to specifications
• Read and follow customer specs and production orders
• Regular equipment inspection and quality checks

Responsibilities

• Make and inspect arbor and overarm set-ups
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
• Thread coil through slitter head, cropping non-complying material
• Thread mults into recoiler
• Maintain production and quality standards by measuring and verifying during processing
• Check and record gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition
• Set gauge monitoring system and ensure calibration
• Adjust machine setup to correct defects during slitting
• Communicate non-compliance to supervisor or shift lead
• Band/secure and identify slit mults
• Complete production documentation
• Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or perform preventive maintenance
• Remove scrap and clean area
• Free uniforms after 60 days
