Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Night Shift Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician in Clinton, IL. You will specialize in electrical maintenance and troubleshoot complex systems to keep production running safely during night shifts.

Responsibilities include repairing high voltage controls, reading blueprints and schematics, fabricating and installing equipment, and maintaining documentation in our CMMS. Experience with PLCs, VFDs, cranes, and preventative maintenance is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Min 3 years electrical maintenance experience (3-phase 480V, ≤600A)
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics
• Troubleshoot and test electrical applications
• Manufacturing/production environment experience preferred
• Crane, Welding, VFD, PLC experience highly preferred
• ARC Flash training/knowledge highly preferred
• Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams
• Working hours are 6 p. m. - 4:30 a.m.

Responsibilities

• Use blueprints, schematics, tools and test equipment to diagnose electrical and mechanical issues
• Perform high voltage electrical repairs (controls, relays)
• Install and repair electrical systems and components on industrial machinery
• Make electronic/mechanical/electrical repairs on computer-controlled equipment
• Troubleshoot production equipment
• Fabricate and install new equipment and coordinate with contractors
• Maintain machinery per Preventive Maintenance Program
• Maintain maintenance documentation in CMMS and inventory records
• Inspect cranes and lifting equipment
• Follow safety rules and practices
• Perform other duties as assigned

Description

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a safety-oriented night shift Sr. Electrical Maintenance Technician. As a Sr. Electrical Maintenance Technician at Meyer Utility Structures, you will specialize in electrical maintenance and troubleshoot equipment and electrical systems within our plant.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today’s transmission industry standards and specifications.

What You’ll Do:

• Use blueprints, schematics, small/power tools and electronic test equipment to perform a variety of maintenance tasks and determine causes of operating problems in areas including but not limited to electrical systems/components, electrical fixtures/switches/power sources and mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Perform high voltage electrical repairs (e.g., controls, relays)
• Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment
• Make electronic, mechanical, or electrical repairs on computer-controlled equipment
• Troubleshoot electronically controlled production equipment
• Fabricate and install new equipment and coordinate with contractors as needed
• Maintain machinery according to Preventative Maintenance Program
• Maintain documentation of maintenance services in maintenance management software
• Maintain a critical spare parts inventory
• Perform regular inspections on cranes and lifting equipment
• Follow all safety rules and practices
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need:

• Minimum of 3 years of related electrical maintenance (3 Phase 480V and below) electrical experience (≤ 600AMP)
• Ability to understand principles of mechanical and electrical controls and understand general mechanical and electrical schematics
• Ability to trouble shoot and test all electrical applications
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred
• Crane, Welding, VFD, and PLC experience is highly preferred
• ARC Flash training/knowledge is highly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams
• Working hours are 6 p. m. - 4:30 a.m.
