Job summary

ATI is hiring a SEM Technician to join the lab department at our Monroe, NC facility. You will analyze metal samples using SEM and related techniques, providing microstructural data to Engineering, Quality, and R&D teams.

The role emphasizes strong problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills in a quality-focused lab environment. Night shift runs Sunday–Friday from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, with training on first shift 7:00 am–3:00 pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Six months of related inspection/evaluation work experience.
• Two-year technical degree or advanced high school chemistry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform microstructural evaluations using SEM, EDS, WDS, EBSD and related detectors.
• Analyze, interpret, and report microstructural results for customers.
• Determine sample preparation methods based on material history.
• Maintain and calibrate instrumentation per established procedures.
• Coordinate sample exchange with national and external laboratories.
• Support R&D projects with quantitative methods and imaging.
