Job summary

Phillips Exeter Academy seeks an RN to join our Health Center on a per-diem basis for 7p-7a shifts. The nurse will perform comprehensive assessments, coordinate with NP/PA/MD, and provide direct care for students with acute issues, injuries, and wellbeing concerns.

You will work with a team to support health promotion, administer immunizations, draw blood, and maintain clear, confidential records while adhering to school protocols.

Qualifications

• RN with current nursing license required.
• 3-5 years nursing experience.
• 1-2 years critical care nursing preferred.
• Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive physical assessments independently.
• Uses critical thinking to evaluate needs and make referrals to NP/PA/MD, counselors, athletic trainers and others.
• Ensures physicians and outside providers receive comprehensive diagnostic information.
• Initiates and implements nursing care plans independently.
• Provides care for crisis intervention, acute illness, injury, and emotional concerns as part of a team.
• Draws blood, calls in prescriptions, dispenses medications, administers immunizations, and performs other procedures as ordered.
• Observes students who pose safety concerns.
• Develops trustful relationships and communicates effectively with parents, faculty and health services staff.
• Maintains confidential documentation and adheres to relevant protocols and laws.
