Job summary

PastryStar, located in Laurel, MD, is seeking a hands-on Sanitation Lead for the night shift to oversee sanitation across our food production facility. You will supervise staff, ensure clean and compliant production zones, and support audits.

The role focuses on allergen changeovers, equipment cleaning, and maintaining Master Sanitation Schedule. You will work with Production, QA, and Maintenance to keep operations safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5-10 years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GMPs and FDA/FSMA food safety standards.
• Able to follow Master Sanitation Schedules and logs.
• Willingness to train sanitation staff and lead a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in wet environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the sanitation team and oversee cleaning of equipment and production areas per Master Sanitation Schedule.
• Ensure allergen changeovers and prevent cross-contamination.
• Supervise cleaning of dry mix and liquid zones including teardown/reassembly.
• Oversee sanitation of tanks, totes, and filling lines for creams and glazes.
• Ensure floors, drains, walls, and shelving are cleaned to prevent pests.
• Maintain SDS records and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Conduct pre-op inspections to ensure readiness for production.
• Train team on GMPs, hygiene, PPE usage and sanitation procedures.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, and Maintenance on schedules and audits.
• Support third-party audits and customer inspections.
