Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Elmhurst, IL is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. The role includes neonatal to geriatric care, with a $25,000 sign-on bonus and full-time 36 hours/week.

Shifts run 7:00pm–7:30am, with every third weekend and rotating holidays required. Responsibilities include assisting physicians, administering therapy, documenting care, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• RRT or registry eligible status.
• Illinois licensure within six months of employment.
• Current CPR certification (AHA).
• ACLS within 24 months.
• NRP within 24 months.
• PALS within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures.
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures.
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians.
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner.
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Provide patient and staff education.
