Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to evaluate and care for patients and administer prescribed therapies during night shifts. This role requires the ability to assess patient needs, implement care plans, and monitor equipment.

You will educate patients and families, support colleagues, and participate in equipment maintenance and inventory. The position offers a regular schedule, 30 hours per week, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in respiratory care or equivalent experience.
• No experience required.
• Current BLS HealthCare Provider certification (AHA).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) and Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner license.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient to determine appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a care plan.
• Delivers respiratory care services per physician orders and department policies.
• Implements and monitors care plans and equipment; documents patient condition.
• Evaluates medications and outcomes of respiratory therapy.
• Educates patients and families about conditions and community resources.
• Assists with equipment maintenance and inventory; cleans and sterilizes equipment.
• Responds to medical emergencies and rapid responses.
• Maintains alertness and safe work practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
