Job summary

Eden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New York is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for the 7pm–7am shift. The role involves leadership of nursing staff, ensuring high-quality resident care, and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• RN license in the state employed in
• BSN preferred
• Peripheral IV certification
• CPR/BLS certification
• Minimum two years clinical nursing experience
• One-year management experience preferred
• Experience in geriatrics and subacute populations

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct shift staff meetings to identify and correct problems in service delivery
• Identify problems in nursing care delivery and implement corrective action
• Make written and oral reports to the Director of Nursing as needed
• Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care
• Begin investigation of accidents with staff interviews and data gathering
• Explain nursing policies to staff, residents, visitors, and government agencies
• Delegate authority to Charge Nurses for duties and accountability
• Daily rounds of assigned units at shift start and end
• Ensure emergency equipment and supply checks each shift
• Assist in orientation for new nursing staff
• Complete written performance evaluations following probation and annually
• Initiate disciplinary actions as needed
• Ensure policy compliance including dress code in Nursing Procedure Manual
• Ensure adequate nursing staff for shifts to meet patient needs
• Plan and conduct unit-based in-services
• Monitor equipment use and waste
• Prepare rooms for new admissions
• Visit residents on report to assess status
• Review nurses' notes for completeness and accuracy
• Manage IV starts/restarts as ordered
• Ensure medication procedures comply with policies
• Review MARs for accuracy
• Inspect treatment areas daily for cleanliness and safety
• Support quality improvement programs (QAPI)
• Participate in facility surveys and committees
• Participate in health, safety, security, and compliance programs
• Infection Control program implementation and maintenance
• Ensure proper PPE use and disposal
• Report equipment malfunctions to Maintenance
• Receive annual physical and TB screening
• Comply with resident abuse prevention policies
• Cooperate with investigations into employee health and safety
• Report accidents/incidents to supervisor
• Correct unsafe conditions or report them promptly
• Follow safety, infection control and corporate policies
• Observe security precautions and alerts
• Respond to drills and emergencies
• Ensure residents wear ID bracelets
• Assist in QAPI processes

Skills

Two years clinical nursing experience

One-year management experience

Geriatrics/subacute experience

CPR/BLS certified

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Current RN license in the state employed in
