Job summary

OrthoNebraska seeks an Extended Recovery RN for its post-operative orthopedic patients needing extended or overnight care. The role involves monitoring patient conditions, managing pain, promoting early mobility, and preparing patients for discharge in a collaborative team setting.

The position is part-time (0.6 FTE) with two 12-hour night shifts and weekend/holiday rotations; Nebraska RN license or compact state eligibility is required, with BLS/ACLS to be completed within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and overall patient condition.
• Administer medications including pain management protocols.
• Assist patients with mobility ensuring safety and adherence to post op restrictions.
• Identify signs of post operative complications and intervene appropriately.
• Provide wound care, monitor for infections, and manage post anesthesia side effects.
• Maintains accurate and timely medical records.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, addressing concerns and providing education about recovery expectations.
