Job summary

MemorialCare is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse for the Observation Care unit in Laguna Hills, CA, to cover nights. The RN will apply nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for observation/outpatient surgical patients, coordinating with the care team and mentoring staff.

CA licensure and BSN are required; one year acute Med-Surg exp is expected; BLS/ACLS/PALS are required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Current CA RN license.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• One-year acute care experience in Med-Surg required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIH, and PALS required.
• Current MedSurg certification preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for the management of patient care.
• Analyzes the assessment data to determine a nursing diagnosis and appropriate interventions.
• Demonstrates leadership in the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum with progress towards meeting desired patient outcome.
• Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
• Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified patient learning needs, and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching plan as necessary.
• Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members.
• Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies.
