Job summary

Shorewood Behavioral Health, a brand-new 120-bed behavioral health hospital in Madison, WI, seeks an RN to provide and coordinate care for adolescents, adults, and seniors with mental health and substance use disorders. The role includes developing nursing plans, educating families, and documenting records per regulatory standards.

The hospital will offer PHP, IOP, and ECT, with a focus on comprehensive acute and outpatient psychiatric services.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license as required by state of employment or eligibility to practice.
• One year of nursing experience; psychiatric/behavioral experience a plus.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available).
• First aid may be required per state/facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about conditions.
• Adhere to nursing practice standards, policies, and protocols.
• Ensure physician orders are legible and transcribed properly.
• Assess patient status continually and document findings.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status or emergencies.
• Complete admission and discharge processing accurately.
• Demonstrate therapeutic rapport and professional boundaries.
• Coordinate unit activities and direct staff as needed.
• Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers.
